CBD for anxiety & depression

At Golfer’s CBD we avoid making medical claims about CBD. We’ve summarised some of our findings below when researching CBD as a treatment for anxiety and depression.

Anxiety and depression are mental health disorders with devastating impacts on health and well-being. 1 in 4 people in the UK suffer some form of mental health problem every year.

The World Health Organization (WHO) claims that depression is the primary contributor to disability worldwide, while anxiety disorders are rank sixth.

Anxiety and depression are generally treated with pharmaceutical drugs that can cause a number of side effects including drowsiness, agitation, insomnia, sexual dysfunction and headache; and some pharmaceuticals used to treat these conditions have proven addictive.

CBD oil has shown promise as a treatment for both depression and anxiety, making it a highly sought natural alternative to pharmaceuticals.

Animals studies have shown CBD has antidepressant-like effects.
In humans, CBD has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing public speaking anxiety, treating insomnia and anxiety in children with PTSD.

While the mechanism of action of CBD in the brain has not been conclusively demonstrated, volumes of anecdotal and some clinical work suggest CBD acts on the brain’s receptors for serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood and social behavior.

Players suffering anxiety-based conditions on the golf course have reported a significant reduction in symptoms when using broad spectrum oil. We believe limonene and cannabigerol are contributing to this effect.
